Old sales woman is quite annoying, we have visited that place many times before but not having any wish to go anymore.... That old sales woman is rude and doesn't even gives cookies for take away coffees, unlike the other sales girl which is smiley and nice. Awful service. Won't visit it again.read more

After walking past this lovely little shop and then seeing they have Chocolate Fondue on their menu , we decided to try... it out.Should have read the reviews first as we tried to order the chocolate fondue, we were told it will take about 30 min. Which we said was absolutely fine. Then when the waitress places the order , we were abruptly told it's a 30 min wait and again we assured them it was fine . Only then be told they can't turn the oven on and other run around stories as why this was a problem. If you cannot accommodate a walk in customer with an item on the menu (which does not say it has to be pre-booked) then why have it on the menu.Very sad and disappointed in what service we received and that it was in a top tourist spot as well. Not a good look if this is how you treat customers.read more

Location and what is served are good. But the service is the worst possible. There is a blonde lady who works here. She... goes to the table and says that if you want something you have to go and get it at the counter. She is rude and stares you like she's angry. So far okay, I don't see a problem with that but the real problem is how she addresses the public. I really value the way I am treated when I visit places and here it was like she was doing me a favor. I do not recommend. There are other very good places like Mees that will treat you very well.read more

A bit of a strange experience.I touched the "hot chocolate block" I wanted to buy. I was then told snappishly that I... wasn't allowed to touch it (again: I touched what I bought myself 10 seconds later). The tone was very unfriendly and I was somehow surprised at how this person spoke to me. Sure, everything is stressful there, but somehow a little decency and "general education/style" is not too much to ask for, When you have to pay €30 for 2 pieces of cake and 4 coffees.Nevertheless, you have to be fair, of course: The café is very expensive, but it's okay and the cake tastes really good. The other waitresses were also quite nice. Only this one lady at the front seemed a bit undereducated, but maybe the café was looking for staff from a less educated background, which is actually a good thing. Furthermore, you should not judge because of one person that is working there. But this girl was so weired... I had to write this review, maybe someone can talk to her..read more

Unfortunately a very annoying and incompetent little blonde saleswoman (was working at the till). Seemed very childish... and immature. Not a problem per se, but I found this uncivilized and stupid manner disappointing. Sure, I don't need to be served by Immanuel Kant, but I would appreciate a little more decency...This very inexperienced and embarrassing appearance was shameful. All the other employees were very nice.Still not acceptable!read more

The old lady who works here is so rude that the entire experience of the visit is ruined. Even if they served the best... coffee in the world, not worth visiting due to such a terrible vibe. That’s probably the reason why place is almost empty on a busy sunny Saturday anyway.Just to mention - walked in with a small crying baby and wanted to use the toilet. The lady did not let me and forced me to order something before I go. I asked if I could order after using the wc and she refused. Very weird. The clients after me were also treated very rudely.read more

My biggest concern is the older lady. She is acting like she almost hates you, haha. Aggressive, kind of belittling... behaviour and look when I ask something, etc. And all my friends who live in Deventer reliazed her behaviour, I don't know if it's something towards foreigners. Hope not!Once I encountered that lady, I smiled and said "hmm what can I eat?" while checking the list of food there. And the lady was almost angry saying with an unpleasant face "I DON'T KNOW!! WHAY DO YOU WANT TO EAT?!" Hahaha, I was shocked. Have no idea why an owner would act like she hates her customers, never replies back to smiles, etc.The second is what they call sandwich (around 8-9 euro) is a slice of bread and some lettuce etc on top 😁 I was so upset for my money! Coffees are nice but don't worth to go anymore for me.Hope she realizes that she has to change something in herself. We are all humans, no worries, but it's really annoying for other people.read more

Very expensive. I ordered a sandwich that was not a sandwich but a piece of bread with toppings. After 1 hour there... they told us we should order something else or leave because it was a busy day even though there was plenty of free space.read more

How I felt about the younger female staff's reaction this morning almost ended my visit in that place straight, if not... for the sake of my friends. I ordered three drinks (ice cappuccino, ice latte, matcha latte). I usually receive cookies standardly next to those drinks, and once even in another choco chain cafe. They are not expensive at all. This time, there were no cookie. When I hesitated, I waited to ask and saw they were very busy with just two. There were plenty of unwashed cups and dishes piling here and there on one table in the middle right where customers could see them immediately after the entrance.Maybe I should have waited longer before I took action. When I turned one glass jar of cookies around, I wasn't thinking much but definitely wasn't mean to transgress their space. I was stopped abruptly with a short and harsh call. My hands were implied to be unclean and very bad for touching those cookies. But I haven't touched anything in the jar and the suspicion was already embedded in the voice that sounded nervous. I would be cooler with a gentler reminder to my likely inappropriate act. I stopped and requested for cookies with an apologetic look as I wanted to be proactive, not rude.I wished that I could have one cookie for each drink. When I was communicating, words were pushed back to my chest with some troubles orientating. I heard that either this type of biscuit or that type of choco cookie, and only two. And "no" to any further discussions. I got the point but I didn't even remember if I was having eye contact with a person who worked as a waitress- a job that I chose before. I hurried up and withdrew from the conversation as I stood there alone unnecessarily long. Cookies are not that important and I could give up the extra. My friends were seated and watching me from time to time so I brought the drinks and joined them quickly.I accepted whatever I could get. Yes, a clip was used when cookies were taken out of the jar, however, I saw them directly being left on that black tray. Imagine, I was just confronted that using hands to take cookies wasn't clean and decent and now, was witnessing the food laying on the tray. How often do the trays get cleaned like kitchenwares in restaurants? I doubt after a single use based on my experience in Horeca. Anyway, I ate the cookies with just the bare hands. So did my friend. I shouldn't care that much. There weren't plastic bags or spoons for that little things. The cafe isn't high dining so it was casual anyway.I wanted to explain things but at that moment, considering all the other orders she had to take and the "gezelligheid" for my own group, I let go the needs to defend and went back to focus on enjoying a morning to the book market. Usually, I leave tips but this time, none. The lesson for me is that small interaction with people really matters, and even more concerning the value of hospitality. I appreciate if people take this seriously but not too personally. I don't mean to blame anyone.Drinks are good. 🙂read more

I used to come here almost every time I visited Deventer and always had an amazing vibe with a tall young barista. She... was always super friendly, the coffees and hot chocolate were yummy, so I always kept coming to grab a drink for me and my partner. The pralines are also very tasty. I used to buy them as a gift from time to time.Yesterday (16th of July) I had the WORST EXPERIENCE in a cafe ever. An old lady (which I see now by the reviews has several other negative reviews) was extremely rude to her colleague and towards me (passive aggressive). Is she the manager? Owner? I don’t know and honestly don’t care. Her behavior is unacceptable. The staff was visually stressed by the situation.Treat people with kindness and if you have to teach your staff in a rude behavior first of all don’t do it; and if you do it anyways, don’t do in front of a costumer. You embarrassed my partner and myself. I surely didn’t enjoy my drink after this and won’t come back here.read more

I And my boyfriend was here on 19/6/2020 at about 15:00. The employees who work on this day were really nice to us... .Because of the Corona situation and because we look Asian,so wherever we go, I am always scared that we will get discriminated as I notice some people do not even want to interact with us like saying hello, but the employees greeted us with a lot of warmth, friendly smiles and treat us with high-quality hospitality service 🙂 Also the brownie and the drinks are always good here !. You guys really made my day a happy day, thank you very much for having good hearts. I hope you both get a raise haha 😀 I will definitely visit again!read more
